“Swasraya Bharat” is a unique concept which means self-reliant India.  SSM, Kerala has been conducting Swasraya Bharat since the year 2005, with the support and active participation of many reputed national organizations. These events are organized with the objective of igniting the spirit of national self-reliance among the cross sections of society in the fields of science, engineering, agriculture, medicine and technology.

Swasraya Bharat reflects the Government of India's vision of Vikasit Bharat that “can achieve through its concerted efforts in science and technology innovations”.  The concept of the new India having a 5 trillion Dollar economy, essentially needs mass motivation and involvement of the entire spectrum of the country’s population comprising of students, youths, scientists, technocrats, academicians and the public at a large.  The Prime Minister’s vision, “Sab ka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Visvas”, can only be fulfilled through pooling of young talents and their intellectual energy towards atma nirbarata - self-reliance.  The pivotal elements of self-reliance include agriculture, science and technology, a vibrant startup ecosystem providing a wide range of employment and national security.  

Every SSC will have a focal theme related to the region or that particular time period.  Themes of SSC in the past include agriculture and rural development, science and philosophy, traditional science and technology, information technology, coastal zone management, biotechnology and society, nanotechnology and net zero emission strategies.

• Vijnana Mela - Science and Technology Expo:  The expo will showcase India’s remarkable achievements in frontier areas of science, technology, engineering, agriculture and a host of other fields in which India has undisputed leadership.  It also provides a vibrant platform for interaction with industry, research institutions, academic fraternities and young researchers.  Expected participants include CSIR, ICAR, DRDO, ISRO, MOES, MEIT, MOP, DST, DBT, DAE, PSUs, Universities, Corporate companies and Startups and private institutions.
